How does a seller create a new event?
Step 1: Click on Events Tab then click on 'Create Event'

Step 2: Enter in Event details

- Select the site you wish to play at from the drop down box. The site is usually an online poker site or a live venue (e.g. Casino)
- Select the tournament you wish to play from the drop down box. If the tournament is not in the list you can either request ChipMeUp to add one or add one yourself. A self added tournament will only be visible to yourself and not other people.
- The entry cost is automatically populated from the database.
- If you have played the same tournament before, you can autopopulate the same values for this new event. i.e. autopopulates share size, quantity, etc.
- Enter the amount as a % you wish to sell. This is the maximum amount people will be able to buy from you. Eg. In this example it is 15% , so you will own at least 85% of yourself and a maximum of 15% can be bought by buyers
- Select the size of the share as a %. This number must be divisible by the total by an integer. Eg. In this example there is 15% for sale, so you could sell share sizes of 1%. 3%. 5% and 15%. By selecting more shares you might increase the chance of yourself being sold as it keeps the price down. If people want to buy more than 1 share they always can.
- Next select the price each share is going to be sold at. The calculated value is the price based on the share size divided by the buy in. eg. 3% of $109 is $3.27. In this example the user has selected to sell the share at $4. The user can select any share prize but not charging something much more than the calculated value will attract more customers.
- You can prevent one person from buying all your shares, by setting the maximum number of shares available per person. This allows you to let multiple people purchase a share in the event.
- Enter in the date and time for the event. Be careful you enter this correctly.
- For most online tournaments the time zone will be US-Eastern. For live tournaments you might want to double check.
- There is a fee that a seller has to pay when putting up an event on ChipMeUp. The fee is only deducted if you play the event and you get at least one investor. To put money into your ChipMeUp account click on âMy Balanceâ
- The poker site usually has a Tournament ID for each event. This makes it easy to identify a unique event, and also search for this event in your poker site software.
- Please enter any other information that you think people need to know about for this event.
- You can send an email notification to any of your friends so that they can be the first to know that you have shares available for sale. Email addresses should be one address per line.
Step 3: The Events Page
Below is what the events page looks like after you have created an event. It has all the information about the event your playing, time, tournament, price of shares and a pie graph showing the shares purchased so far.

Notes About Events
You will be entitled to a fee refund if you create an event and do not get any people buying shares by the time the tournament is scheduled to start. The refund only applies if you don't enter any winnings for the event.
If the tournament is due to start, and you have not sold all your shares, you are required to cover the buyin cost of the unsold shares. You do not have to manually buy the unsold shares yourself - it is assumed you own the unsold shares. Importantly, the event will not be cancelled if you do not sell all your shares.
At the completion of the event, you will have to enter in your tournament results. Make sure you enter in the results correctly the first time, as you will not be allowed to change them once they have been submitted.
